GATE preparation becomes much easier once you stop treating previous-year questions as something to solve only at the end.
I’d suggest using PYQs alongside your regular topic preparation. After finishing a topic, solve the relevant questions and note which concepts you repeatedly get wrong. This gives you a much better idea of the actual difficulty and question patterns than simply reading notes.
I recently came across a useful collection of GATE exam question papers that can be used for regular practice and revision:

A simple routine that works well is: learn → solve PYQs → analyse mistakes → revise → retest.
